Bean Curd in Fishing Village, Tai O

離島特殊的地理位置限制了其發展的方向,大多從旅遊業出發,重在保護當地的風土人情,儘量減少過度商業化而避免當地特色被吞噬同化的危險。故每次去到離島,都能體會到不少的懷舊美食,茶果是,豆腐花也是。

Tai O, the little & 'true' fishing village, hiding behind of the 'naughty' Hong Kong city. Maybe it's the location, or it's the tourism business, making this village keep its tradition. What you can find there, is another Hong Kong back to 10-20 years ago while not in terms of financial or living level.



吃了燒烤,吃了炸物,吃了雞蛋仔,似乎都是些熱氣的小食,想要降火當選豆腐花。大澳似乎不以豆腐花為著名,大街上便有一家甜品店,門口買些茶果糕點類甜食,內堂則是通風度極高的堂食位,大家都能坐在淡黃色的木質桌椅前,借著桌上的那瓶黃糖來懷舊。

Bean curd is tradition, and its the item wherever you go you will find it in Hong Kong, especially those villages or towns. Before we went for bean curd, we have already went through Chinese BBQ, fried stuff and egg buns, while it's time for icy beau curd to cool down. Tai O is not famous of bean curd (not like Lamma Island), so we just picked up one sweet soup shop along the street, which provides not only sweets but also traditional Chinese cakes.

太極乃豆腐花溝芝麻糊,要上一份凍太極,凍芝麻糊質地較薄,稍淋,芝麻香麻麻,好在甜度適中,吃得出是自然出品而並非兌水沖開;豆腐花倒是做得不錯,質地相當滑嫩,且帶有一份韌勁,一勺滑入嘴裡,充滿豆香。

The icy bean curd with sesame is not creamy enough, nor the fragrance of black sesame, while at least it's not too sweet, and it's made in natural. Bean curd is good, with smooth and fine texture.


之後又去了朋友推薦的豆腐花檔舖,此攤檔設有露天位,吃起豆腐花來倒是有些“閒散鄉間”的悠然感。搭載凹凹凸凸的十字路上的座位有些小不穩,簡陋的桌上一個簡單塑膠盒裝著羹,擺著糖漿與黃糖粉,可自取。不知是店主的小玩笑還是生活小樂趣,盡然在塑膠盒蓋上粘了只拇指大小的黑蜘蛛玩具,明知是假的,但也越看越真實。點了份熱豆腐花,滿滿一瓷碗端上豆腐花幾乎要撲出來;可以收次豆腐花平滑的質地是超越大多坊間水準的,用勺子刻意濃些褶皺出來,豆腐花都不會因外力擠壓而斷碎開,溫熱細滑的口感不會再喉尖停留半刻,混著甜蜜的糖漿,簡單美味。

The 2nd bean curd shop is much 'open' style; it's on the street, such a countryside feel. Just 2-3 tables around with 3-4 chairs. A plastic box of spoons, and a fake black spider on the top of box!!! Who's idea! After the icy one, we tried the hot bean curd without saying out. The texture of it is unexpectedly perfect, with a super plait and smooth layer of bean curd. It tastes warm and escape from your tongue to throat without your attention. Simple but delicious!
