陳奐仁(Hanjin)這個名字，我是從《超級巨聲》中認識的。能夠認識並且緊記這名字，是因為鏡頭前那永遠掛著親切笑容的圓臉。
陳奐仁給我的印象，是正面、積極的。隨著Hanjin在娛樂圈出現的次數增加，我也對他有更深入的了解。
最初認識的陳奐仁是《超級巨聲》的評判，每集的節目中，他都享受著參加者的演出，大力地隨節拍拍掌、笑瞇瞇地跟著節奏搖擺，還有最後鼓勵與批評兼備的評價，每一項都是那麼踏實和親民。
後來從電視和電台中得悉他和MC Jin的作品，隨後還有他的電視劇主題曲，慢慢地認識到陳奐仁的作品。我不是音樂人，也說不上是音樂發燒者，但他的歌曲風格有別於市場的流行曲，很快令我留下深刻的印象。後期他更在《李小龍 －－我的兄弟》中飾演李小龍的好友，而且還在香港先生擔任司儀，這些新嘗試讓我有更多機會在幕前接觸他。
最近，Hanjin推出了個人大碟《誰是陳奐仁－－一個音樂全人十年的故事》，他在電台出現的機會又多了。透過這些電台節目專訪，知道更多有關他的故事，也許是過去浮浮沉沉的經歷，Hanjin很珍惜每個機會，他為人踏實、知足，有住、有吃、有健康，他已經很滿足，是一個思想積極正面的人，這也讓我愈來愈喜歡他。
最近走過唱片店，我也毫不猷豫買了他的唱片。簡單的包裝，收錄了16首作品，無論包裝還是歌曲數量也是現今市場少見。第一首歌曲＜雙手朝天＞，為你簡單唱出陳奐仁的故事。98年的他為張學友寫了3首歌曲，隨後也參與過陳奕迅的唱片製作，原來十年前他已在默默耕耘。他的故事讓我們知道，好好準備自己，機會來了就是你的天下。
隨後的幾首是比較搖滾的勵志歌曲，到了結尾則是較柔和的情歌。雖然他的音樂老師曾經說：「奐仁的喜歡唱歌，但聲音不動聽。」但對我來說，他的聲音有著獨特的韻味，尤其是唱爵士歌曲。在唱片店當天，我也看到Hanjin早期推出的爵士樂唱片。一向愛Jazz的我，初時不知道陳奐仁的聲音是否適合唱Jazz，所以沒有選購，但回家聽了《誰是陳奐仁》這張唱片內最後一首「Simple Things」讓我第二天再走進唱片店買他的Raw Jazz唱片。
我不是音樂人，我不懂評論他唱功如何，不過他獨特的唱腔，是我喜歡的類型，而且他開拓不一樣的音樂世界，讓我更愛他的音樂。
也許你未必喜歡他的音樂，但他這個人很難讓你討厭，他的外型逗趣，他的性格樂天知命，討人歡心。

My first report card in primary school said: “Hanjin loves to sing but doesn’t have a good voice.”
When I was 12,
I found out I was 50 percent deaf in the right ear, and 25 percent in
the left. It’s a genetic thing. I may be more deaf now, after so many
years of abuse!
I thought everyone was my friend when I was growing up. And then my basic concept of life was shattered at age 17.
I just couldn’t deal with it back then—I fell into a deep depression.
I remember seeing a psychiatrist. It really didn’t work, the meds just made me drowsy.
I would just go to school like a zombie, and then go home and cry.
My mother couldn’t stand me living like that and finally told me to snap out of it.
Sport was also a big thing for me. I swam, did rugby, and skateboarded. I quit
skateboarding because I broke my finger and it took three months to
recover, and I freaked out, thinking I wouldn’t be able to play the
guitar ever again.
I was a combat engineer in the Singaporean army and learned to clear mines.
Army life was very regimented, but isn’t as tough as you’d think. But the thing that drove you mad is the question, “Why?”
I performed at this cool café in Singapore for four or five years. It could seat up to
400 cozily for a mini-concert. I just played whatever I wanted to
there. It was fun.
Then I started songwriting. And I did some songs for Jacky Cheung. He opened a lot of doors for me.
Suddenly, Eason Chan came and asked me to produce his album. And then they flew me over to Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is very generous with small opportunities. You can try and do whatever you want here. You can ask a lot of questions.
Hong Kong is the place to ask earnest questions.
I mean, why would they let two people who don’t really speak good Cantonese (me and MC Jin) do a Canto album?
I wanted to come out with a shotgun album. So I just called up MC Jin, and we went for lunch.
We finished it in a couple of weeks.
And doing the “Raw Jazz” album before that. I just wanted to do it, and asked around.
The best way to test something out is to do it.
The reason for doing things is not to succeed, it’s just to ask the questions: v“Can I do this?” or “How much can I do?”
If you’re supposed to do it, then the universe will respond.
Even a couple of years back, my dad was still hinting at me subtly: “Yeah, son, music is nice. Everyone needs music. Music is a good hobby…”
Now he’s telling everyone, “My son is in a movie!”
Yeah, I just played one of Bruce Lee’s best friends in his upcoming biopic. I can’t believe I was asked to do that movie.
I went to visit
MC Jin at the TVB studios once. They were filming “The Voice” (like
Hong Kong idol) and they asked me if I wanted to sit in and be a
celebrity judge for the show. I was like, sure!
I’m like the smallest potato out of all those celebrity judges, who are veterans in the music industry. I’m floored.
Everything more than zero is a blessing. Nobody owes me shit. The universe doesn’t owe you anything.
My new thing is to learn how to become a useful person. This lady told me that my
music got her through her depression, and now she’s off the meds. I
thought. “Cool.”
