「這個國家的音樂是爵士，很早即過著高雅生活，最近它還誕生一種新樂風「嘻哈生 活」（hiplife），這種音樂是當嘻哈遇上雷鬼再遇上節奏藍調與迦納旋律，「嘻哈生活」同時已演變成一種結合嘻哈樂 (Hip-hop)與優質生活 (Highlife) 的新生活態度。一次我造訪迦納與觀光部長會面時，我建議以「酷的誕生地」向國際行銷迦納。」

「將非洲傳統樂器（鼓、葫蘆）與西方樂器（薩克斯風、鐵琴、貝斯）結合使用，創作出深具在地特色的非洲"加力騷"與"藍調"，並且與重新編曲的非洲傳統工作歌和通俗音樂互相融合，產生出奇妙的化學效果。

當非洲國家一個一個宣佈獨立，伴隨在文化上迅速產生巨變，非洲新音樂運動也在這個時候發展得如火如荼。以非洲傳統音樂作為主體，吸納前殖民地的音樂特色，在非洲不同地區開拓出不同的形式風格。

 美國對非洲新音樂運動更是興趣濃厚，皆因美國絕大部分的音樂類型－不管是爵士樂、藍調、流行音樂、舞曲、宗教音樂等，無不跟非洲音樂有著血濃於水的關係，而同時候，美國音樂也對非洲新音樂產生不少影響，而迦納人的"high-life"音樂就是很好的例子，其實所謂的"high-life"，意指該音樂能為一天辛勞工作完畢的人帶來歡樂興奮的感覺。從這些歌曲中，可以充分感受一下迦納人的生活哲學：享受生命、熱愛歡樂。」
