Fandango：盛行於西班牙、葡萄牙的民謠。典型的Fandango是由四段相同的旋律所組成。舞蹈是由男女一對，剛開始很慢，結尾速度加快，有時音樂會突然停止，舞者站的筆直，直到音樂再次響起。舞蹈充滿熱情與激情，男女舞伴利用各種舞步及手勢來追逐挑逗彼此。 2. the miller：儘管A Whiter Shade of Pale的作詞者Keith Reid說他這輩子從未讀過「坎特伯里故事集（The Canterbury Tales）」，也否認這裡的「the miller」和故事裡的磨坊主人有任何關係，但若是了解磨坊主人說的故事後，就不難理解為何不少人喜歡把兩者聯想在一起。 「坎特伯里故事集」的作者為英國重要的詩人喬叟（Geoffrey Chaucer, 1342-1400）。一群要去坎特伯里朝聖的人，為了消磨時間於是約定每人在去的路上說兩則故事，回來時也說兩則，這群朝聖者包括各社會階層的人，喬叟也包括在內。第一則故事由騎士開始，接著上場的便是磨坊主人的故事。在牛津有一位有錢人，以木匠為生，同時也收留寄膳借宿的客人，有一位窮大學生住在那兒，愛上了木匠剛娶的年輕妻子，倆人計劃好欺騙木匠，以達到私通的目的，後來大學生的屁股被另一位少婦的追求者燙掉了一塊肉，木匠則糊里糊塗地被騙走了妻子。 3. Vestal virgins Vesta：羅馬神話裡掌管爐灶的女神。為了不讓灶神的火熄滅，羅馬人在一群出身高貴的女孩中，精挑細選出數位來擔負這任務，如果火熄滅，羅馬將遭到惡運。這些被選出的少女自孩童時期就開始在灶神廟，總共要服務30年，她們立誓守貞，這樣犧牲青春所得到的報酬是世人及羅馬元老院對她們的尊崇和敬重。 4. Neptune：海神，希臘名為Poseidon，地位僅次於宙斯。在與宙斯一同戰勝了父親克洛斯後，他負責掌管變化莫測的海洋，因此脾氣也難捉摸，手持三叉戟，生氣時掀起狂風巨浪，發動海嘯，輕易粉碎任何船隻。 5. mermaid：在荷馬史詩Odysseus裡將美人魚描述為專門用美妙的歌聲讓船隻撞礁，或是引誘年輕男子以保持自己靈魂不凋的危險不祥的生物，因此美人魚在文學裡，大部份是具有性的象徵，例如T.
