水務署在近期的「付款通知書」內，寄發一份題為「水管裝置識得揀/ 銅喉焊接合規格/ 食水安全簡單易辦」的單張，但出現英文錯誤。
水務署的單張有中英文對照，錯誤出現在「安全建議」的英文：
“To
ensure the safety of drinking water supplied to your home, you should only
choose those in compliance with the British Standard.”
以上的代名詞 ’those ‘ 是代表甚麼呢？從句子內找，只能找到 ’water’。那豈不是叫人要飲用符合相關英國標準的「水」，以確保單位的供水安全？
「安全建議」的中文內容較合理，應是水務署的原意：
「請使用符合相關英國標準的水喉裝置，以確保單位的供水安全。」英文內容過於簡略，漏寫了「水喉裝置」，所以表達了錯誤的訊息。英文句子應有 ’pipes
and fittings’ ，這既不能省略，亦不能以代名詞 ’those ‘代替，例如：
“To
ensure the safety of drinking water supplied to your home, you should only
choose pipes and fittings which are in compliance with the British Standard.”
水務署單張背後有詳細的相若內容，正確無誤，錯誤卻出現在以為力求簡短的「安全建議」中，難怪有英文老師曾經說，precis 很難掌握。
