Bibi Graetz was founded in 2000 and is situated in the small town of Fiesole, north of Florence, overlooking the entire city. Owner Bibi Graetz grew up on the hills of Fiesole, where his family owned vineyards, yet his passion for art remained strong. It wasn't until the 90s that he embarked on the path of winemaking, turning his dreams into reality.
Bibi Graetz is an artistically inclined winemaker, infusing his wine creations with childlike wonder and imaginative spaces. Using grapes as his paintbrush, Graetz employs an artist's delicate sensibilities and nimble hands to craft wines that exude an artistic aura. He personally designs the beautiful illustrations on the wine labels and gives each wine an intriguing name.
Among these, Testamatta translates to "crazy head," Casamatta symbolizes a "crazy house," and Soffocone touches on "art of the mouth." Graetz's iconic creation, Testamatta, showcases an impeccable balance of strength and finesse, repeatedly earning a place on the high score lists of "Wine Spectator" and "Wine Advocate," established the status of cultwine. Notably, Testamatta achieved a rating of 98 points from "James Suckling" in the 2010 vintage, and an almost perfect 99 points in the 2015 vintage.
