以無線電視開國功臣，60-70年代編導「歡樂今宵」為香港人熟悉的蔡和平，9月12日在他的FB網頁，發表了一段支持「國民教育」的聲明。
言論自由的社會，任何人對任何東西都可以發表意見，公開了之後，他人也有批評的自由。蔡和平的言論，我覺得有不合理的地方，主要是下面加了紅色的幾點，括弧內的中文是我的疑問。

I
do not agree with the students who are continuing with their protest to
insist in abolishing entirely the ‘National Education’ without the
choice for the schools to decide. What is ‘freedom’ when there is no
choice? Can one party decide for the other?
(「自由」不包括散播毒素和謠言的自由，反對國民教育的人主要是針對改課程指引相關的部分，和強調要激勵愛國情感及提議的評核方法。
美哉「有選擇」！那麼在學校有煙、酒、SM漫畫和丸仔賣好不好？)
Why do Hong Kong
people protest so loudly against ‘national education’ when citizens in
other countries would be proud and would want their children to learn?
Instead they claim that it is ‘brainwashing’. Were we not ‘brainwashed’
by the British when we lived in the days of the Colony Era? I remember
how I was brainwashed as a child as I was denied my Chinese roots. With
my peers, I was only offered a 40 minutes Mandarin Class (treated as a
foreign language) once a week, in the English School. We were
brainwashed to worship Britain’s greatness and their perspective that
“the sun never sets on the British Empire”, but learnt nothing about our
‘Chinese’ origin.
(蔡和平在新加坡出生和讀書，殖民地時期的新加坡學校是這樣的嗎？看清楚，原來他讀的是「英語學校」----大概是給新加坡的英國子弟讀的。我相信當時新加坡也有中文學校，不至於一律規定洗學生的腦來效忠英廷。
香港的情況，和他說的完全不同，我也是在那個時代過來的，香港連那些「官立學校」都絕對沒有這個情況，中文、中史份屬必修，哪是「一星期只有40分鐘作為外語的中文課」？
他以現在身為「香港人」的身分發表這個聲明，我認為是混淆視聽，極之誤導。)
I feel sorry that so many people are misled
into protesting for the sake of protesting without thinking through the
issue carefully. They should ask themselves if they are proud to be a
Chinese? If not, then why stay on in Hong Kong which is Chinese
territory. I suggest that they leave Hong Kong to have a taste of being a
second class citizen in a foreign country. Many who had migrated
overseas prior to 1997 (and now returned to HK) can testify the
prejudices which they encountered.
(移民是「二等公民」，必受歧視？蔡先生你自己選擇不移民，你可不要說得這麼武斷，詆毀英美加澳等等現在收納大量移民，有些奉行多元文化政策，都有完善法律保障每一個公民的國家及其人民。
Why stay in Hong Kong？
你倒說得風涼，移民要有條件，香港人想去就去到呀？另一方面，君不見幾許高官、議員，包括香港親中陣營的梁振英、譚耀宗、曾鈺成，紛紛搞子女出了國。)
What is wrong with the proposed National Education? Without ‘national pride’ are we not a lesser person?
(那麼多人，學者、家長、同學、市民大眾指出的弊病，蔡生完全看不到嗎......不過難怪，聽講你不識中文)
Why do the protesting parents and adults behave in this manner? Are
they not setting a bad example for their children to emulate? Do they
want their children at home to treat them in the same confrontational
way as they now behave in front of the Government Headquarters?
(教壞孩子？不是吧！
家長和老師參與抗議行動，是以身作則，面對大是大非，要挺身而出；並不是教孩子雞毛蒜皮甚麼都要反。
政府總部外十萬人以上的集會，秩序井然，沒有暴力事件，有義工代政府洗擦公廁，散去時連垃圾都分類清理掉----這是給孩子上的好的一課！
講到「教壞人」，國民教育要小學生愛那個掟炸彈、搞暗殺、搞鬥爭、殘害異己的進步團結無私黨，認了第二沒有人認第一。)
